LogJam Sauna is a wood-fired sauna in East Sussex, set in orchards and woodland at Hammond's Wood, Catsfield — offering a hidden retreat to relax, restore and connect with nature.

Our wood-fired sauna is set at the edge of a cider orchard and market garden, within 16 acres of arboretum plantations and ancient woodland near Battle in East Sussex. Your hosts Joc and Ian — both seasoned seekers of all things sauna, hammam and hot spring — will be on hand to attend to the fires and help in any way they can.

The Experience

Warmth from Home-Grown Firewood, Cooling Water from the Land

Set at the edge of a cider orchard surrounded by woodland, the sauna offers a peaceful setting for a private session — combining warmth from home-grown firewood with spring-fed water used for the cold plunge, bath and outdoor shower.

Unwind as you follow the path through the plantations and ancient woodland. Joc or Ian will be there to welcome you, prepare any pre-ordered items and tend the fire. After that, the time is yours to enjoy.

The Setting

16 Acres of Woodland and Orchard Near Battle.

Hammond's Wood, Potmans Lane, Catsfield is a working arboretum, cider orchard and market garden. The sauna sits at the woodland edge, a short walk through the trees from where you park.

Our own natural spring and reservoir supply cold water to the plunge pool, bath and shower. An eight-seater picnic table sits under a stretch tent beside the fire-pit — your base between sessions.

Everything at the Session

Every booking gives you exclusive use of the sauna and all facilities for your session. Joc or Ian will be on site to keep the fires going and serve from the kitchen.

The Sauna

A Horse-Box Converted Into a Mobile Sauna

The horse-box trailer conversion is the heart of LogJam Sauna. It seats five comfortably, and private bookings of 3 or 6 hours can accommodate up to ten people in all.

Home-grown firewood feeds the stove. Cold water from the land's own natural spring and reservoir cools you between rounds. Everything is looked after by Joc the arborist and Ian the gardener, who will be on site to tend the fires and help in any way they can.

    Morning or afternoon on Saturday/Sunday, or a full-day session Tuesday to Thursday. Private bookings available for up to 10 people.

    Stroll down through the trees. Joc or Ian will be there to welcome you, get you settled, and keep the fire going.
